Full decision

Ms A complained about the care and treatment provided to her daughter, Miss A, by a GP Practice managed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The investigation specifically considered whether Miss A’s gynaecological symptoms were appropriately managed by the GP Practice between October 2020 and November 2024, taking into account relevant guidelines for the diagnosis and management of endometriosis.

The Ombudsman found that the care provided to Miss A was appropriate and was in line with the accepted clinical practice at the time. Whilst it was acknowledged that Miss A attended the GP Practice on multiple occasions for her gynaecological symptoms before a Gynaecology referral was made, there was no evidence that this resulted from a service failure by the Health Board. The Ombudsman did not uphold the complaint.
