Full decision

Ms X complained that the information on a CT scan undertaken in 2017 (“the 2017 CT scan”) was not fully reported on and highlighted to her or her GP. Ms X also complained about the adequacy and the robustness of the Health Board’s complaint response.

The Ombudsman’s investigation concluded that the 2017 CT scan was correctly reported and there was no missed lesion. The Ombudsman was also satisfied that the Health Board’s complaint response was adequate and robust. The Ombudsman noted the Health Board’s suggestion of an in-house discussion about the careful use of language when referring to a previous examination in order to avoid incorrectly conveying the impression that a radiological error had occurred was useful.
