Recommendation (the committee's words)
The modern service framework should set out expectations for improving workforce training on obesity. It should include a target to upskill GPs in particular, given their central role in access to obesity treatments. To support this, undergraduate medical education needs to incorporate education and training on obesity as a core component, increasing both the quantity and quality of training provided. For existing professionals, a set of mandatory training modules, in the style of the Oliver McGown training, should be introduced. (Recommendation, Paragraph 77)
