Clinical treatment outside hospital; GP: A GP Practice in the area of Cardiff & Vale University Health Board Report Date 14/04/2026 Case Against A GP Practice in the area of Cardiff & Vale University Health Board Subject Clinical treatment outside hospital; GP Case Reference Number 202509891 Outcome Early resolution Mrs A complained about the care and treatment she received from the GP Practice. In particular, Mrs A complained that diagnostic swabs taken from her and her child, were either incorrectly processed, contaminated or lost. Mrs A also complained about an appointment with a GP, who, having been told that she was pregnant, failed to inform her that her pregnancy was a high risk due to her having a virus at that time, or to provide any advice or treatment for the virus.
The Ombudsman decided that the GP Practice had not provided Mrs A with an adequate response to her concerns, particularly in relation to what lessons had been learned and the action it had taken to prevent recurrence. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the GP Practice’s agreement to write to Mrs A within 1 month outlining the lessons that have been learned as a result of her complaints, what action has been undertaken to prevent recurrence, and how those changes are being monitored.
