Full decision

The Ombudsman received a complaint about Cardiff Council’s response to Shared Regulatory Services (SRS) finding that a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) was causing a statutory noise nuisance and that the noise caused by the Council’s MUGA was having a substantial effect on the complainant’s life.

The Ombudsman found that the Council had not responded appropriately to SRS’s conclusions and had not taken appropriate action to abate the statutory noise nuisance. The Ombudsman found that this caused frustration and inconvenience to the complainant.

The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint by asking the Council to take action to ensure that the statutory nuisance is abated.
