Mrs A complained that Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board had not provided an adequate response to the complaint she raised about the care and treatment provided to her late husband. She said that following a meeting with the Health Board on 10 July 2023, it has not provided any minutes/recording of the meeting. Further the Health Board committed to undertaking further enquiries based on the facts she provided in the meeting, and to organising a further meeting with the consultant who was the lead on her husband’s care but had not done so.
The Ombudsman found that the Health Board had committed to organising a further meeting with Mrs A but had not done so. The fact that her complaint remained unresolved constituted an injustice to Mrs A.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Health Board’s agreement to contact Mrs A and confirm a meeting date, within 10 working days. Additionally, the Health Board agreed to provide Mrs A with a copy of the minutes/recording from both meetings within 20 working days of the second meeting.
