Full decision

Miss W complained about the care and treatment provided to her son, Mr X, when he attended the Princess of Wales Hospital (“the Hospital”) between 14 January and 22 January 2023. She specifically complained that Mr X should have been admitted to the Hospital when he was taken there on 4 occasions with self-harming behaviour, including attempts to hang himself.

The Ombudsman found that Mr X was appropriately assessed when he attended the Hospital and reasonable plans were put in place to maintain his safety in the community. Mr X was also prescribed appropriate medication. This complaint was therefore not upheld.
