Full decision

Ms X complained that the Health Board had failed to address various concerns she had expressed regarding a formal assessment of her son’s provisional diagnosis of autism, including issues surrounding community mental health input, hospital care and discharge arrangements.

The Ombudsman found that the Health Board had erroneously concluded that it had resolved Ms X’s concerns and that it had not issued a comprehensive written response. The Health Board agreed, within a period of no more than 55 working days, to contact Ms X to establish her outstanding concerns, confirm these in writing and issue a formal response to each of her complaints. The Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate resolution and did not investigate.
