Full decision

Ms A complained that the Council had failed to investigate a noise nuisance complaint in accordance with its obligations under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The Ombudsman identified issues with the handling of Ms A’s complaint and the Council’s subsequent formal complaint responses. She decided to settle the complaint.

She sought and obtained the Council’s agreement to apologise for the shortcomings, offer a site visit, ensure that any future similar complaints were investigated and confirm the action taken to prevent future similar issues from occurring.
