Full decision

Miss X complained that her general waste has not been collected since June 2021. She also complained that the Council offered no solution to resolve the access issues caused by parked cars.

The Ombudsman decided that the Council should provide Miss X with a further written response (within 3 weeks) which should include an apology and assurances that a collection would take place within 48 hours. The Council should also offer a suggestion about how to improve matters going forward, and should ask its Collections Team Manager to monitor the situation to ensure every effort was made to collect Miss X’s waste in the future.

The Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate resolution to the complaint instead of conducting an investigation.
