Summary (the LGO's words, from its website)

Mr X complained about the Council’s failure to provide him with suitable temporary accommodation in response to his homelessness. We found the Council to be at fault because it took long to process his homelessness application and suitability review. This caused uncertainty and meant he stayed in unsuitable accommodation for longer than necessary. To remedy this injustice, the Council agreed to apologise and make a symbolic payment to Mr X.
