Inquiry announced
The Scottish Government announced a public inquiry, under the Inquiries Act 2005, into the professional practice of a former NHS Tayside neurosurgeon.
Chair appointed
Lord Weir, a judge of the Supreme Courts in Scotland, was appointed to chair the inquiry.
Terms of Reference set
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care set the inquiry's Terms of Reference.
First preliminary hearing
The inquiry held its first public hearing, a preliminary hearing in Edinburgh.
