Conclusion
An understanding of supply chains is critical to a “whole-of-society” approach to economic security. While the new Supply Chain Centre will analyse key inputs, it will do so only in the specific context of the eight growth-driving sectors in the Industrial Strategy. We are concerned that this will only add to the current muddled picture, with new siloed understandings of sectoral vulnerabilities but no overall understanding of the UK’s dependencies. The Government cannot take a strategic approach to sovereign capabilities without a clear understanding of the supply chains that support them. (Conclusion, Paragraph 132)
