Conclusion
By the end of the decade, a broader range of affordable EVs should become available to UK consumers. The growing import of cheaper Chinese EVs will help in this regard, providing more options to consumers and stimulating competition in the market. However, in the longer term the UK must avoid reliance on foreign imports, which are currently mainly Chinese, to support mass ownership of EVs. This is important for the UK’s economy, strategic priorities and net zero targets.
