Recommendation 35

The UK made significant improvements on reducing methane from waste management before the signing of the Global Methane Pledge. However, renewed focus may be necessary if the UK is to reach the targets set by the Government in 2012 or secure the progress deemed necessary by the Climate Change Committee. If these targets are not to be met, the Government should provide its own assessment of whether the costs outweigh the benefits.
