Conclusion
The Committee heard how greywater recycling presents an exciting opportunity to make new towns more resilient to water shortages (whether caused by climate change or faults with mains infrastructure) and cheaper to live in. Drinking water does not necessarily need to be used for gardens or flushing lavatories: new towns can be designed with rainwater harvesting as standard, so that these systems can be included in construction, rather than expensively retrofitted. 82
