Recommendation 1

We heard mixed evidence when it came to ensuring that Ministry of Justice policy reflected the specific needs of Wales and Welsh people. While some witnesses told us that there was a disconnect between policymakers in Whitehall and service users in Wales—especially when it came to commissioning services—we also saw evidence of the Department working to ensure Wales was accounted for in recent policy initiatives, such as the establishment of the Women’s Justice Board.
