Gigawatt-scale nuclear power plants require UK experience—of the supply chain, regulatory processes and the wider energy sector—to deliver projects efficiently. However, the UK may benefit in the future from multiple operators of small and advanced, nuclear power technologies as they have the potential to provide market competition, collaboration opportunities and prevent a groupthink mentality.
