Conclusion (the committee's words)
Obesity services are currently fragmented, inconsistent and difficult to navigate, with significant variation in provision across the country and no clear pathway for patients or healthcare professionals to follow. This places an unfair burden on individuals living with obesity to identify, access and sometimes advocate for appropriate treatment themselves. The current system is poorly designed for a chronic, relapsing condition, relying instead on disconnected, time-limited interventions that fail to provide continuity of care, the ability to move between treatments, or support people throughout their lives.
