Full decision

Mrs F complained about the treatment and care provided by the Health Board to her late father, Mr J, following his admission to hospital in March 2021. In particular, Mrs F said that the Health Board inappropriately discharged Mr J home on 7 May 2021 when he had symptoms of confusion, a red rash and right-sided facial weakness.

The Ombudsman found that Mr J’s care in hospital had been appropriate. Although confusion and a rash were noted in his clinical records, there was no mention of any facial weakness; his condition was stable and there was no reason why he should not have been discharged. The Ombudsman did not uphold the complaint.
