Full decision

Ms X complained that the Health Board had failed to respond to her complaint regarding her father’s care and treatment whilst he was an inpatient. Ms X believed that the Health Board misdiagnosed her father which resulted in him suffering a bleed to his brain.

The Ombudsman decided that the Health Board should provide Ms X with a written response (by 18 March) which should address her complaint. It should also include an explanation and an apology for the delay in its response.

The Ombudsman considered this to be an appropriate resolution to the complaint instead of conducting an investigation.
