The Council was at fault for delays to its handling ofMrs X’s complaint about its children’s social care service. It also failed to write a letter of apology to her after agreeing to do so. These failings caused her distress and inconvenience. The Council has now agreed to send her the apology letter and will pay her a symbolic financial remedy to recognise her injustice.
