Miss B complained that the Council had failed to understand or properly consider its duty under section 19 of the Education Act 1996 to provide alternative education to her daughter, C, since she was unable to attend school from June 2023. We found the Council at fault which caused C to miss out on a significant amount of education and Miss B uncertainty and frustration. The Council has agreed to apologise to them, make a symbolic payment and improve its procedures for the future.
