The Ombudsman's final decision
Summary: We cannot consider Mr X’s complaint about an unsuccessful school admission appeal. This is because the law prevents us from considering complaints about admission appeals for academy schools.
The complaint

The Ombudsman’s role and powers
The Local Government Act 1974 sets out our powers but also imposes restrictions on what we can investigate.

How I considered this complaint
I considered information provided by the complainant and the Ombudsman’s Assessment Code.
Final decision
We cannot investigate Mr X’s complaint. This is because the law prevents us from considering complaints about admission appeals for academy schools. Mr X can complain to the Department for Education as the body responsible for considering such complaints.
