Select committee: Education Committee

Conclusion 54

2nd Report - Reading for Pleasure Published 17 Jul 2026 Addressed to Department for Education
Conclusion (the committee's words)
As part of the strategy on reading for pleasure which we are recommending, the Department for Education should set an expectation for all schools and early years settings to organise regular visits to public libraries continuing to the end of key stage three. Schools should also work with parents and carers to include them in visits where possible and helping to link up parents with their local libraries. (Recommendation, Paragraph 193) 96
