Recommendation
We recommend that the Government review the Defence Industrial Plan and the forthcoming Defence Investment Plan, in light of our recommendations and conclusions in this chapter. (Recommendation, Paragraph 22) Defending Europe in the near term

We welcome the Committee’s thorough examination of the issues around the Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS). We believe the DIS supports the growth of a resilient and innovative defence industrial base and aligns with our national security priorities and European security. Its implementation is well underway within the MOD; progress has been made in several areas, including our Defence Growth Deals—particularly in Plymouth—and the launch of the Office for Small Business Growth. We will carefully consider the Committee’s recommendations and ensure that the DIS continues to effectively address the needs of our Armed Forces, strengthens our security, and supports the UK’s position as a global leader in defence innovation and collaboration. The DIP will seek to implement the direction of the DIS and we will take the Committee’s recommendations and conclusions into account as the DIP is developed. Defending Europe in the Near Term
