Conclusion
The challenge of providing accurate, impartial and trusted news to audiences is growing as more people access news through unregulated platforms. It is a particular challenge when it comes to the younger audiences. This trend is exacerbated by the fact that AI is becoming more important in the production and distribution of news. AI can be a tool to provide good quality, accurate and verifiable news and factual information to a large number of people across the world. However, it can also be used to disseminate misinformation and disinformation, and in high volumes that make it less likely for high-quality news to be visible. In this context, accurate, impartial and trusted news must be made more easily discoverable on platforms where people are choosing to access news, and where the risk of misinformation and disinformation is the greatest.
