Conclusion
In terms of best practice in information sharing, the APPC pointed to the example of “sharing discussions” which arise from “Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA)”. These are “statutory arrangements bringing together the police, probation and prison services to assess and manage the risk posed by certain sexual and violent offenders”. At least one of the APPC’s members found that such discussions had been “a helpful way locally to obtain the necessary information and build a better risk picture of individuals involved in domestic abuse cases to then assess their suitability for community sentences”. 294
