Recommendation
As highlighted in our 2023 report, ‘UK defence policy: from aspiration to reality?’, Government policy documents often fail to clearly articulate the Government’s priorities and the hard choices that need to be made in the face of competing pressures on limited resources. We call on the new Government to ensure that its response to the Strategic Defence Review provides a clear sense of the Government’s priorities for UK Defence and how it plans to turn aspirations into practice.
