HM Government

We are engaging regularly with businesses across the UK to understand the impact of US tariffs. On steel and aluminium specifically, we have maintained a regular drumbeat of engagement with these sectors, holding regular meetings with senior industry representatives and trade unions. All Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminium and derivates are applied at 50% to the rest of the world. In contrast, the UK only faces 25% tariffs. The UK is the only country to have had this commitment from the US on these exports, giving our companies a 25% competitive advantage over the rest of the world.
