The Heat and Buildings strategy outlines the measures being taken to ensure the market is in place to deliver on the ambition of 600000 annual heat pump installations by 2028. This includes a mixture of financial support, market intervention and regulations, which have been designed to complement each other. The timing of these interventions will enable the heat pump market to develop towards the required level. In addition to these policies, the Government is working with industry to ensure the enabling conditions are right to support this growth. For example, the Heat Pump Ready Innovation Programme is receiving investment of £60 million to support coordinated deployment of heat pumps and find technical solutions to reduce costs. The Government is also working to ensure that appropriate high-quality training is available, both for new entrants to the sector and existing heating installers who do not have heat pump experience. This includes coordinated action through the BEIS-led Electrification of Heat Task Group, which is focussed on removing barriers to heat pump deployment at scale. BEIS will continue to work with industry and trade unions to deliver the priority actions identified by this group.
