Select committee: European Affairs Committee

Conclusion 16

1st Report - Citizens’ Rights Published 23 Jul 2021 Paragraph 104
Conclusion (the committee's words)
Vulnerable EU citizens are classed as such because they were at risk of missing the 30 June deadline. The best way to protect the rights of the vulnerable is to ensure protections are in place for late applicants. While we welcome the inclusion in current Home Office guidance of a number of vulnerabilities as potential “reasonable grounds” for late applications, we remain concerned that these protections may not be sufficient. Greater clarity and more comprehensive legal safeguards may be needed.
