Recommendation 27
27
Paragraph: 151
Methane from slurry represents approximately 15 per cent of UK agricultural methane emissions.
Conclusion
Methane from slurry represents approximately 15 per cent of UK agricultural methane emissions. Aggregated slurry from individual farms amount to substantial methane emissions as well as increased risks of water pollution. However anaerobic digestors are currently only used by a small percentage of farms. We heard that existing grants in England are not working well to support uptake, due in large part to overly rigid grant conditions and slow progress at the local authority level in agreeing permissions.
