Conclusion 12

1st Report - Methane: keep up the momentum Published 10 Dec 2024 Paragraph 96
Conclusion (the committee's words)
The UK pioneered top-down greenhouse gas modelling, and its bottom-up inventory is world-leading. However, further improvement in monitoring and verification regulation at the level of individual sectors could bring significant benefits, notably a) further increasing levels of confidence in the UK’s emissions statistics, b) refining the monitoring the impact of sector-level mitigation measures, and c) being able to reward the good practice of individual operations.
