Select committee: Environment and Climate Change Committee

Conclusion 8

1st Report - Methane: keep up the momentum Published 10 Dec 2024 Paragraph 54
Conclusion (the committee's words)
As the host nation at COP26, the UK played a leading role in the launch of the Global Methane Pledge. Some witnesses argued that since then, the UK has not been as active as it could be in key international fora and discussions, though the new Government told us it stands ready to participate in future methane-focused international events. Some witnesses told us that greater UK presence and participation in international discussions on methane would be welcome, notably in the sharing of best practice, and international finance, where the UK has driven significant progress.
