Recommendation
The financial precarity of many jobs in journalism is not conducive to attracting a diverse workforce representative of the UK’s population. We welcome schemes from industry and the National Council for the Training of Journalists to attract and train under-represented groups, particularly outside London. As part of its local media strategy the Government should seek partnership funding to support attraction and training schemes for local news, including apprenticeships.
