Conclusion
Of particular interest in using the current new towns programme to demonstrate examples of effective and innovatory practice, is the need to show how new approaches work on distinct, standalone sites. However, none of the seven locations proposed to be taken forward in the Government’s March 2026 consultation 162 is described as “standalone” site—although the Committee recognises that one may be described as being rural.
