Evidence highlighted many different types of building materials that are successfully used in the construction sector in the UK, although not necessarily at a large scale. These included hemp, 124 wool-fibre insulation 125 and stone. 126 We were told such materials often have a lower carbon footprint than mainstream alternatives, as well as being rooted in heritage traditions and local historical vernaculars. 127
