The Government has consistently reiterated its intentions for the next generation of new towns and expanded settlements to be exemplars, demonstrating the best of planning, design and construction. 121 In its 2025 interim report to the Government, the New Towns Taskforce identified an additional aim for the programme: to “contribute to transforming the way that large settlements are delivered”, 122 seeking to improve and innovate methods of settlement delivery.
