Cabinet Office does not centrally track whistleblowing investigation lengths from departments

Conclusion
HMRC told us it understands that it is important to whistleblowers that it investigates as quickly as possible, and both HMRC and DWP monitor the length of time cases take.13 But the Cabinet Office is not collating this metric from departments.14 HMRC told us that more complex cases can cause delays to investigations, either due to being particularly technical or other factors such as sickness absence or people being out of the office.15
