Departments rely on accurate and timely data to understand how people move through the asylum...

Conclusion
Departments rely on accurate and timely data to understand how people move through the asylum system, but significant gaps remain in the information held across different parts of the process. The NAO found that a reliable, single record is not yet available for each asylum seeker, and that data needed to track cases effectively is inconsistent or unavailable. While the Home Office has now moved fully to Atlas for asylum case management, the transition has been complex, with significant challenges in transferring and merging legacy data, improving functionality and upskilling staff. The Home Office and HMCTS are working to link their case management systems, yet current data sharing limitations make it impossible to directly track individual cases through the entire asylum process.31
