In developing its own mandatory human rights due diligence, the UK should be mindful of the outcome of the CSDDD process in the EU, in order to ensure that businesses which operate in both the UK and EU are not placed under conflicting regulatory burdens. (Recommendation, Paragraph 84) 77

The RBC review will have due regard to the approaches taken by our trading partners, including the European Union. Noting the EU’s adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the Government has been in regular contact with the European Commission on this issue, including through the Trade Specialised Committee on Level Playing Field for Open and Fair Competition and Sustainable Development.
