Conclusion
Thermal energy storage, both domestically and as part of heat networks, could play a significant role. It can shift peak demand times and help with the integration of electrified heating such as heat pumps. A few small-scale projects have been supported through the Longer Duration Energy Storage Demonstration Programme, but we encourage the Government to do more to support thermal energy storage.
