Recommendation 33

More than 15 years on from its introduction, the government should commission and publish analysis of the impact of the mixed age couple rule on those affected and how this will change as the State Pension age rises to 67. This analysis should include: their risk of poverty; the 67 impact on their health and wellbeing; the extent to which they take up the elements in Universal Credit for which they are eligible, including for caring responsibilities, ill-health and disability.
