The Government welcomes the Report and says it is committed to working with the Scottish Government to help the sector grow, while setting out where it does not envisage or believe in change on several recommendations.

  • On creative tax reliefs, it says "at present the government believes the rate of relief should be consistent across all firms and all regions of the United Kingdom", citing simplicity and possible confusion if rates varied.
  • On the Creative Industries Council, it has "considered carefully" but believes there are "good reasons not to extend" its remit to be UK-wide, while welcoming the Scottish Government's and Creative Scotland's participation in discussions.
