142. The Home Office is committed to providing clear and transparent information on the operation of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM). Quarterly NRM statistics already include data on the number of Competent Authority staff. The Home Office will consider whether additional data can be included in future publications, without compromising the privacy of individual staff members. As previously mentioned, to reduce the average decision making time, we have significantly increased our workforce, including through a major recruitment exercise to further boost decision-maker numbers by around 200 staff. We have increased productivity and improved performance through new initiatives including mainstreaming best practice.
