HM Government Acknowledged
The Government accepts this recommendation. 6. The UK has been a leading voice within the Antarctic Treaty system since the Antarctic Treaty was signed in 1959. We will continue to be a strong advocate for science-based solutions to the challenges facing Antarctica. The UK will also continue to be pragmatic about issues where there is already scientific advice and/or a clear evidence base and encourage Treaty Parties to act swiftly to reach consensus to deliver the objectives and principles of the Antarctic Treaty system.
