Recommendation 34

34 Recommendation Reasonable adjustments
Recommendation · verbatim

The Committee has heard that adjustments for neurodivergent pupils are at best inconsistent, short-lived or dependent on individual staff and at worst non-existent, leaving children without the reliable consistent support they need. Schools are obliged to make reasonable adjustments. The Committee urges the Scottish Government and the next administration to give further consideration to how it can be ensured that schools are implementing this requirement. The Committee also recommends that this Scottish Government and the next administration work with the Equality and Human Rights Commission to consider how its technical guidance on the Equality Act for schools can further implementation.
