Mrs A complained about the actions of Swansea Bay University Health Board in respect of safeguarding concerns relating to the Perinatal Mental Health Service.
The Ombudsman decided that the Health Board’s complaint response was mostly detailed and thorough. The Health Board had acknowledged its failings, apologised where appropriate, and identified appropriate learning actions to improve its service. However, the Ombudsman was concerned that the Health Board had not appropriately addressed Mrs A’s concerns around a conflict of interest. The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.
The Ombudsman sought and gained the Health Board’s agreement to, within 3 weeks, provide Mrs A with an updated complaint response addressing the learning taken from her conflict of interest concern, and to provide Mrs A with a copy of the final safeguarding report.
