Full decision

Mrs B complained that the Health Board did not appropriately investigate her late father’s possible Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and that it did not provide an appropriate standard of care to him during his inpatient attendances.

The Ombudsman found that the Health Board had not yet had the opportunity to investigate its actions during Mrs B’s father’s first presentation to the Emergency Department and that it had not yet assessed whether there was a qualifying liability on its part.

The Health Board agreed, within 1 month, to provide a further response to Mrs B on these matters.
